Sheridan King 

President

Sister Sheridan N. King serves as our Illustrious chapter President. Sheridan is a senior from Nashville, TN pursuing a dual-degree in Psychology & Community and Leadership Development. Sheridan aspires to become a Mental Health Advocate/ Speaker for Adolescents. In addition, she has recently published A Moment: A mental health journal on Amazon. Sheridan has previously served as our Sergeant At Arms and community service chair. During her time as Community service chair she pioneered our mentorship program Illustrious Pearls. A program designed to uplift young women in the Lexington community. Sheridan works endlessly to impact the lives of those surrounding her. During her time at UK, she has served as the Public Relations chair for Minority Youth Ministry, a K Team leader for K Week, a member of the Butterfly Effect, and a member of the UK Psychology Student Association.

Kelsey West

Vice President

Sister Kelsey West is a Senior from Chicago, IL pursuing a degree in Public Health with an Undergraduate Certificate in Clinical Health Management. Kelsey serves as the Vice President of the Chapter and Programming Committee Chair. In her time here at UK, she has served as a K-Crew Leader, Peer Mentor for Interprofessional Health Care Residential College LLP, and an Active Women's Health Initiative Movement Mentor. Within the chapter, Kelsey also serves on the Bylaws, Budget & Finance, Connection and Awards Committees. With the hopes of pursuing a Master's Degree in Health Administration, Kelsey aspires to positively change the way people view healthcare by focusing on community-based initiatives and patient relations in clinical settings.

Jayla McCoy

Secretary

Sister Jayla McCoy is a Senior from Cleveland, OH pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science. Jayla is serving her second term as the Chapter Secretary and chairman for Standards and Connection Committees. At UK, she is very involved as a Student Ambassador for the College of Engineering and the Lewis Honors College, a 4th-Year Resident Advisor, and a UK 101 Peer Instructor. Soror Jayla has done research in both the Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science Department on Advanced Materials Processing and drones. She is proud to be the immediate past President of the UK National Society of Black Engineers and is currently the Senator. Soror Jayla also enjoyed being a K-Crew leader as well as the Communications Co-Chair for Omicron Delta Kappa, one of the four National Honor Societies on campus. She is in the Scholars in Engineering and Management (SEAM) honors pathway and plans to pursue an MBA one day. For the Spring and Summer 2021 terms, she had the opportunity to work two rotations at GE Appliances Headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky. During Summer 2022, she did her 3rd Co-op at Toyota. This past summer,  she did her 4th Co-op at Northrop Grumman in Redondo Beach, California. Jayla’s goal is to work for a Fortune 50 Company in the C-Suite.

Corie Lindsay

Treasurer

Sister Corie A. Lindsay is a Senior from Lexington, KY pursuing a degree in Nursing. She aspires to be an ICU or OR nurse helping those of all ages. Coming into UK,  Corie made set goals to get more involved on campus and within her desired area in the medical field. Her additional involvement while at UK includes the Pre Physical Therapy Association Club, Student Nurses Association, Diversity Student Ambassador, Multicultural Association of Pre-Health Students Club, and Vice President of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She serves to help others by attending Surgery on Sunday, working at UK as a Nursing Care Tech in PACU, and teaching English to Spanish-speaking students in elementary schools. Corie aims to advocate for and support those around her.

Mariel Wilkerson

Parliamentarian 

Sister Mariel Wilkerson is a senior from Pickerington, Ohio, pursuing a degree in Human Health Sciences.  Mariel serves as the Parliamentarian, Scholarship Chair, Bylaws Chair, and has previously served as Chaplain for Iota Sigma Chapter. She is a third year Resident Advisor for Johnson Hall here on campus. This summer, Mariel was an intern for Amethyst, Inc., a women’s and family treatment center, in their SummerQuest Program. In her time at UK, Sister Mariel has served as the Social Media Chair for Black is Gold UKY and a K Crew leader for UK’s K-WEEK.  Mariel looks forward to volunteering at Baptist Health in their Emergency Department for the fall 2023 semester! She is also a State Registered Nurses Aid for the state of Kentucky and in the future,  Mariel plans to continue her studies in preparation for becoming a Nurse Practitioner.

Terra Yarbrough

Financial Secretary

Sister Terra Yarbrough is a Senior from Louisville, KY pursuing a dual degree in Neuroscience and Psychology on a Pre-med track. She is also a student in Lewis Honors College. For our Illustrious Iota Sigma Chapter, Terra serves as the Financial Secretary and Fundraising Committee Chairperson, but further facilitates duties within the Budget and Finance, Community Service, and Archives Committees. On campus, she is the Vice President for NAACP, a Diversity Student Ambassador, a Lewis Honors College Ambassador, and was previously a K Team leader. Terra is always striving to improve her community as it is her passion to advocate for change, and too, works closely with the rising youth of her community as a tutor and mentor. In the future,Terra aspires to earn her MD where she will specialize in pediatric neurosurgery. She hopes to one day service the communities in West Africa to help reduce the adversities concerning the inaccessibility to proper healthcare

Zora Woolfolk

Corresponding Secretary

Sister Zora Woolfolk serves as our Illustrious chapter’s Corresponding Secretary and Connection Chairman. Zora is a Senior from Louisville, KY pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Spanish. She is very involved in the campus community as she a member of the DanceBlue committee, a Lewis Honors College Student Ambassador, a 2021 Chellgren Fellow, and a undergraduate research assistant in the CHaSE Lab under Dr. Lauren Whitehurst. Within the chapter, Sister Zora also serves on the Programming and Sisterly Relations committees. In the future, Zora aspires to pursue a PhD in Psychology and conduct research on mental health in the Black community with hopes of positively impacting the lives of others.

Alayna Tobo

Ivy Leaf Reporter

Sister Alayna Tobo is a Senior pursuing a degree in Broadcast Journalism with a double minor in Coaching and Family Sciences. Within the chapter, Alayna currently serves as the Ivy Leaf Reporter, Community Service Chair, Public Relations Committee Chair and within the Programming and Sisterly Relations Committees.  Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Alayna is making her mark at the University of Kentucky as the reigning 2022-2023 Miss Black and Gold, your 2021 Miss Black UK, a WRFL Radio Personality, a student-athlete on the UK STUNT team, the Vice President for the Association of Black Journalists- Bluegrass Chapter, and one of the hosts of UK’s official podcast “Bowman’s Friends.”   She also enjoys public speaking where she gets the opportunity to use her voice to speak up as an advocate for Mental Health Awareness. Alayna plans on continuing to use the resources, opportunities, and platform that the University of Kentucky has given her to create a legacy and show Black Females that it is okay to take up space.

Samantha Walker

Hostess

Sister Samantha Walker is a Senior from Louisville, KY pursuing a dual degree in Business Management and Marketing. She has aspirations of getting into the sports marketing field and one day working with big name teams. During her time at UK she has been apart of the Leadership and Service LLP as well as the Creative Arts LLP and is an active member within her community. Within the chapter, Samantha serves as NPHC delegate, Hostess and Chair of the Sisterly Relations Committee. She is also apart of the Community Service committee & Nominating committee. After she graduates, Samantha plans to get her Masters Degree with hopes of furthering her career in the sports marketing field. She aspires to defy gender stereotypes and social norms to show younger girls that women belong in sports.

Kennedi Brookins

Chaplain

Sister Kennedi Brookins is a Senior from Atlanta, GA pursuing a degree in Integrated Strategic Communications on the PR Track and a degree in Theater. Kennedi Serves as the chapter's Chaplin and member of the PR committee. While attending UK she has been a part of the Black Student Union as a Freshman Representative and as Public Relations Chair her sophomore year. She also taught review sessions for the course PSY100 as a Supplemental Instructor in the Transformative Learning department for UK.  She is currently a Peer Mentor for the College of Communication and Information. Active in the School of Fine Arts, she has participated in the 2022 production of Black Lives Matter 1916-Now, where she was able to learn behind the scenes of play production. In her free time she is a business owner, professional actress and vocalist ready to serve!

Jordyn Thomas 

Sergeant at Arms

Sister Jordyn Thomas is a senior from Cleveland, OH pursuing a degree in Middle-Level Teacher Education with a focus in English/Language Arts and Mathematics. Jordyn intends to become a middle school teacher and work towards earning the necessary credentials and experience to eventually become a principal. Jordyn has always enjoyed working with children of all ages; education is very important to her and she wants to stress this importance to black students everywhere. It is Jordyn’s goal to make all students feel safe and comfortable in their learning environment as well as teach them that nothing is out of their reach. Sister Jordyn aspires to be a positive role model to every student she encounters.

Amaya Henry

Quin Bio Here

Sister Amaya Henry, a Senior hailing from Atlanta, GA, is currently on the path to achieving a degree in Integrated Strategic Communications with a minor in Computer Science. Amaya is fully dedicated to breaking barriers as a black woman in STEM. She's skillfully combining her talents in communication, marketing, and technology, all with the aim of securing an exciting role at an IT company in the near future.

 

Around campus, Amaya is deeply engaged. She's a proud member of UK NSBE and various other collegiate programs that keep her on her toes. Recently, she nailed a Google Analytics Certificate, showcasing her dedication to staying ahead of the curve. Not stopping there, she also takes charge as Chair for the Rituals and Risk Management Committees.

 

Amaya’s campus journey is more than just academic. It's about making a genuine impact. She's not just focused on creating opportunities for people of color; she's all about lending a hand to those who could use a little extra support. In essence, Soror Amaya Henry is a true driving force at the University of Kentucky, striving for positive change every step of the way.
